My bf and I went for a last minute dinner date and it was adorable and all the staff was friendly and we could not pick what was our favorite part of the meal from the fried chicken, gyoza, rainbow roll, sushi or tuna. A lot of families were there and the vibe was cozy. We will definitely be back at this gem. ”
“ Ordered their pan fried miso salmon one of their specialscooked to perfection. Soft, moist, flavorful, with a nice skin. Do not fear dry salmon here! The specials are varied, and come with a combination of sides with a good amount of food. The water tastes good too, no tap flavor. ”
“ Kaita offers really great authentic Japanese food and is located in the heart of Japan Town, SJ. The restaurant is on the smaller side and may not be suited for groups larger than eight. If you dont arrive during opening times, you can expect some wait time. There is metered street parking available around the area. Ive visited both for lunch and dinner, and they have different menus for each. The lunch menu is more limited, offering select items, while the dinner menu has a wide variety of options. I particularly enjoy their handrolls and sushi rolls. My favorite dish on their menu is the salmon soup rice, a rare find as not many Japanese restaurants make o cha salmon rice soup anymore. I also tried their katsu curry, and the portions are huge for the price you pay. The service here is fantastic the staff is very attentive, providing free hot tea and water, and they ensure your glass is never empty. The food comes out relatively quickly as well. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone in the mood for authentic Japanese food. ”
“ A compact, straightforward and very good general Japanese restaurant serving not only the classics, but specialities of its own art very raspberries prices. Had excellent agedashi tofu, a huge serving of well prepared karage chicken, and tonkatsu with a unique miso sauce. Will be coming back. ”

“ Hi, Im kaitas biggest fan, think Ive been there more than 10 times since my boyfriend first introduced it to me. It is very authentic, i had lots of exposures to Japanese food growing up, and it feels like a good home meal mom cooks for you. We usually get two special menus they write daily special menu on the whiteboard, take a look! and order side like sashimi, tempura, uni if they have, grilled fish. Their regular menu has various options to enjoy but highly recommend trying special menus. In my photos, I ordered pork tofu hotpot that comes with sashimi, and my partner ordered ribkaraage. Both are so yummy! ”
